Good morning:) I thought I would post a little more information about my socks since I was a bit brief the other night. I have a modeled foot photo too -- just for Bex! I have to say, that I was a bit mistaken when I tried them on the other day and stated that they fit size 7 just fine, they are actually a bit too big for me. They fit fine in the circumference, but they are long of toe (which I just discovered that you can't really see in this photo but maybe you can see the heel looks a bit baggy...).
Anyway, here are the specs:
Yarn: Koigu KPPPM colors P137 and 2170 (I think those are the color numbers they are hard to read). I have 2 skeins of each.
Needles: Clover 5 inch size 1
Gauge: About 18 stitches per 2 inches in SS in the round.
Heel to Toe Measurement: 9.25 inches unstretched.
Pattern Mods: None thus far, I even used the Middle East wrap CO from the magazine. I'm not going to knit knee highs though. I think I'm going to knit until I run out of the first ball of the main color and that is how high they will be. (I just have to predict how much I will need to save for the top cuff...)
What I like: I really like the whole entrelac process. I thought it would take forever, but it goes really quickly and it is so addictive! I also like this Knit-along:)
What I don't like: I wish the P2tog and SSK stitches looked a little neater. My contrasting color has a tendency to show through and I keep poking at it to hide a bit more underneath. Is that happening with anyone else?

Yay!!! Those look great!
The close up of the koigu yarn really shows a lot more. Now I see why the one in the magazine looks so irridescent.
Yeah, I am finding that the ssk and p2's leave an edge that is a little weird and the colors are poking through. I talked to a woman on craftster about it and she said that a lot of that should go away after we block them. That's hopeful.
I agree that the entrelac is a fantastic project. It is really easy to knit.
Thanks for posting the lovely picture!!
Thanks! You are right Koigu is sort of irridescenty, but I also like the "wooly" looking socks posted on this blog too. They seem very inviting to the feet...
hey spincerely, I also have smaller than average feet (about 7-7.5) and always have to alter sock patterns, did you just decide not to alter it and go a little long? anyone have any ideas how I could alter it to be a little shorter?
I don't know how you can really go shorter without going a lot shorter... Just tighter gauge, I think, perhaps? Otherwise, it might be a lot of pattern alteration. I finished my first sock and it "fits." It is not perfect - long in the toe and tight in the calf, but it is wearable! My daughter told me that I should do either a shorter sock or the whole knee high deal and I think she was right. A sock that ends at the widest part of a calf, esp mine, is not so flattering. But she also pointed out no one will see it anyway since it will be under my pants...
brainy...
i have a 8.5 foot and with the yarn i am using, i had to put 6 CC rows on the foot section to get it to fit and it's still a little bit tight. i think part of it depends how the yarn you are using is going to work. most of us are coming out with socks that are smaller than the koigu for some reason. (i did get gauge though so it doesn't make any sense).
the other thing you can do if your yarn works out perfectly is just try doing 4 CC tiers instead of 5.
bex- did you get the right gauge row-wise and stitch-wise? 'cause I've been told in entrelac it is just as important to get the right row numbers too or it might come up short, long, etc. also-using different yarns may cause a different sort of stretch or pliability, ya know? the yarn I'm using is not particularly "giving" so we'll see. I can always change it later though, I just have to swatch like a mad thing (tomorrow after my last final!!!!)
brainy...
i am getting 17 sts for 2 inches across and then 11 rows in 1 inch down, so that should be correct, but there is a lot of 'space' with my knitting that doesn't show up in the koigu...i guess because my yarn is a 3-ply. it's also not stretchy AT ALL, so i think you're totally right that the pliability of the yarn makes a big difference.
i'm not surprised that my socks are coming out a little bit small with the yarn i'm using, but i am sort of surprised that they are coming out smaller with other people's yarns...but spincerely seems to be getting it right on with the koigu, so it totally has to be the yarn.
how's your yarn gauge and stuff? it's working out well?
I love, love, LOVE your colors! If I can get my fit problems resolved, I will make these again in colors similar to yours. I chose my deep green and fawn because I just bought a pair of tan jeans and didn't have any brown/tan socks to wear with them (except I quickly knit a pair with KP Sock Memories S'mores).
